Lust for Love (2014)

IMDb plot summary: Astor's happy tenacity spoils his one chance at love with his lifelong crush Mila. Convinced he needs more experience with women to win her back, he engages her ex-best friend Cali to teach him how to woo women.
Directed by Anton King. Starring Fran Kranz, Dichen Lachman, and Beau Garrett.

This plays like a somewhat awkward student film with far too many forced moments, stilted lines of dialogue, and scenes of confusing exposition. I really enjoyed Whedonites Felicia Day and Maurissa Tancharoen in their tiny roles, but as a whole the female performances were awkward and stiff. However, Fran Kranz is charming as always and Enver Gjokaj is surprisingly hilarious as the minor "dumb jock" boyfriend character. There is a lot that is wrong with this movie, but there are a few genuine laughs that make it probably worth the watch, especially if you really like romantic comedies with an indie feel. 2.5 stars.

Flickchart: #1151 out of 2043, below The Lion in Winter (2003) and above Star Trek: Nemesis.

Rent on Amazon for $3.99.
