I've Loved You So Long (2008)

IMDb plot summary: A woman struggles to interact with her family and find her place in society after spending fifteen years in prison.
Directed by Philippe Claudel. Starring Kristin Scott Thomas, Elsa Zylberstein, Serge Hazanavicius, and Laurent Grévill.

Every so often a drama comes along where every scene is just interesting to watch because the characters are so engaging, they're acted so well, and the interactions ring so true. This is one of those movies. From early on, Kristin Scott Thomas's character held my attention and made me really curious as to her back story. The film manages to fill two hours and give us a sense of their lives without ever making me feel like the scene I was watching was a "filler" scene, a sense I get far too often from emotional dramas. This is a really good movie, and I'm glad it was recommended to me.

4 stars.
